Fall is a great time to plant bulbs in your garden. Bulbs come in many shapes and sizes, so choose ones that will bloom later in the season. Planting bulbs now also helps ensure that you'll have flowers next spring.

Plant Bulbs.

If you're looking to add some color to your fall garden, consider planting bulbs. They're easy to care for and provide beautiful blooms throughout the year. Choose bulbs based on what you'd like to see in your yard. You can find them at local nurseries or online.

Prepare for Cold Weather.

To prepare for cold weather, plant bulbs now so you'll have flowers come springtime. Bulbs also help attract butterflies and other pollinators. Plant bulbs in groups of three or four to ensure that each bulb has enough room to spread out.

Protect Plants from Frost.

If frost threatens, cover plants with a clear plastic bag before putting them outside. Remove the bag when the ground warms up again.

Harvest Flowers.

In addition to growing vegetables, flowers can also be grown indoors. You can plant seeds directly into pots or use seedlings. Choose varieties that bloom early so you can enjoy fresh cut flowers throughout the fall season.
